SIESTA
_
Siesta is a folk/rock band from Buenos Aires for which the song is the most important thing, the attention to the form and the way to communicate, without neglecting experimentation and general production. Inspired by both urban and rural landscapes, their lyrics range from everyday situations to existential questions. Nature, man, loneliness, time and love are the core of the work.
The influence of artists such as Bob Dyan, Neil Young, Elliott Smith, folk blues, Argentine folklore (especially from Buenos Aires) is noticeable at first listen and can be seen naturally amalgamated in the different Siesta productions.
The band was born in mid-2007 as a guitar and violin duo. A year later, adding drums to their lineup, live performances begun. Many shows were performed with only acoustic guitar and drums, giving an important place to spaces and using the lack of other elements to their advantage.
From 2011 to 2016, incorporating bass guitar, Siesta consolidated itself as a folk trio of acoustic guitar, bass and drums.
Over the years and with several changes in its lineup, Siesta was commanded by Ricardo Jürgens and Fernando Scaglia; taking charge of the composition, execution of most of the instruments, production and recording of their albums.
The band released 4 albums and 2 EPs, recorded and edited independently. “Siesta” (2007), “The flowers behind” (2010), “Luz de capital” (2012), “Acampe” (2015), “Vol.2” (2019, EP) and “Vol.3” ( 2019, EP).
During 2023 Siesta recorded their fifth album 'Larga Distancia' at ION Studios, produced by Jürgens/Scaglia, mixed and mastered by Norman Mac Loughlin at Daktari studios. The LP of 9 new songs was released on 19 April 2024.
With this new album Siesta was signed to Della Napa Records.
